Truck-Grand-Prix: Shiny Tires and Long Party Nights

Hello everyone – nice of you to stop by our blog (again). As I told you in my last post, the ADAC Truck-Grand-Prix is coming up again. Before I set off for the Nürburgring, however, there’s still a few things to do. New dampers are being fitted to the truck, a last visit to the gym is on the agenda and, of course, the obligatory shopping at the bakery. Freshly baked rolls and tarts are a must for the journey.

Relaxed arrival and set-up

Wednesday we set off for the Eifel. The journey goes smoothly and I can park my truck on the site without any major difficulties. That always gives me a good feeling when you are already on site and have completed the initial preparations. Some companies arrived even earlier than me. In the evening we just have something to eat before the real hustle and bustle starts on Thursday. That’s when the truck cleaning starts. I spend most of the day polishing the show truck to a shine and checking and setting up the power supply. After all, I want to make a good impression.

The spectacle begins

Friday is finally the day. The gates open at 12 noon and the first guests arrive. Conti has invited around 120 people this year. There’s also a special surprise for me: two colleagues from Hanover are also there. It’s a real highlight for me to see familiar faces. They are both attending the event for the first time and are completely fascinated. I can hardly wait to show them the facility and the event by day and night.

Enthusiastic people

It’s great to see how enthusiastic people are. Our truck presentation goes down really well and it’s just fun to see people’s big eyes. The temperatures are a little lower this year than last, but that doesn’t detract from the atmosphere and is quite pleasant.

People dancing everywhere

One of the most frequently asked questions at our stand is: “How do you get your tires so shiny?” This compliment makes me very happy and I am happy to share my care tips.

The evening parties seem to get better every year. In the paddock, on the race track, in the Müllenbachschleife – there are parties everywhere. Even in the hotel, the night is turned into day. Music acts such as Isi Glück and Peter Wackel ensure an exuberant atmosphere and dancing people. There is also an impressive firework display on Saturday evening to round off the day in spectacular style.

Highlights and surprises

At night, everything flashes and lights up, you can hear the horns and music sometimes even in your hotel room. It’s great how peaceful the event is, despite the alcohol consumption. I didn’t see the police once, and everyone felt completely at ease.

One highlight is the visit from truck influencers Katrin “Tinka” Oschmann and Christina Scheib, who are out and about signing autographs. And then there’s a wheel of fortune at what feels like every stand. The queues here are always endless and visitors are always lining up to win prizes. The same people stand in front of me again and again, wanting to win the next Conti cap.

In addition to the highlights, there is also a small electricity problem during the day – which is fortunately quickly resolved. Someone had switched off the box that supplies us with electricity. With the help of a technician, I quickly solved the problem. In the end, everything ran smoothly – the air conditioning and even the heating worked perfectly.

An unforgettable event

At the beginning of the event, I thought there would be a little less going on this year. But I know from the organizer that just as many tickets were sold as in 2023, with more than 130,000 people in attendance over the entire event weekend. All in all, it was another successful three days with lots of partying, little sleep and a reunion with many familiar faces.

I’m heading back home on Sunday at 10pm, my dentist appointment is on Monday and on Tuesday I’m going to the stadium in Hanover for the DFB women’s match against Austria.

Until then – see you on the road,

your Ronny
