Getting Ready: The E-truck Is All Set for Departure!

There are only a few days left until the start of the #ContiEuropeanRoadshow! The final preparations are in full swing and bring the first results to light. The CKT.FolienTechnik GmbH in Burgwedel (Hanover region) finished foiling the e-truck of Designwerk at the end of March, so that it now shines in a yellow and black look of Continental. So, the innovation partnership between the two companies becomes visible. Other details of the foil are intended to draw attention to the new GEN5 tires and the long-distance capability of the e-truck. You see: It’s about time we tell you a little more about the show truck – In this post!

Full speed ahead…

The tractor from Designwerk is electrically driven and, thanks to a battery capacity of 900 kWh. That is currently about nine times the capacity of the largest e-car battery – enough power for the roadshow. Our driver Ronny doesn’t have to worry about long downtimes with the “HIGH CAB Semi 6x2T” model either. With a charging power of 350 kW, the journey can continue after just over half an hour – and is charged to 80% SoC (State of Charge). Here is an overview of the different charging times:

  • Charging with Type 2 AC 22kW (100% SoC): 37.3 hours
  • Charging with Type 2 AC 44kW (100% SoC): 18.7 hours
  • Charging with CCS Type 2 150kW (10-80% SoC): 3.5 hours
  • Charging with CCS Type 2 350kW (10-80% SoC): 1.5 hours

It is also possible to charge the battery while the truck is being loaded and unloaded. This saves additional time and will please any driver. But this is not the only area where its efficiency stands out: Four electric drive motors put 680 hp on the road and are five times more efficient than the diesel-powered equivalent!

… towards future!

So, it’s fair to say that the e-truck from Designwerk can do more than its diesel equivalent. Our driver Ronny, for example, can look forward to maximum driving comfort and jerk-free starting – thanks to the recuperation pedal and continuously variable transmission. In addition, it brings a unique range of up to 500 kilometers with it, without polluting the environment with soot particles, NOx, CO2, or engine noise. In other words, there are no local emissions. This not only sounds ideal for the future, but also and above all for the #ContiEuropeanRoadshow
