The countdown is on – from the July 13 to July 16, the #ContiEuropeanRoadshow will be making a stop in Germany. Our driver Ronny is heading to the Nürburgring with our black-yellow show truck! On the third weekend in July, the legendary race track in the Eifel region is the place to be for motorsport fans and truck drivers, for the transport trade and the commercial vehicle industry at the ADAC Truck Grand Prix.
Premiere with the E-Truck from Designwerk
After the roadshow through the Baltic countries, Poland, the Netherlands and Belgium, the Truck Grand-Prix with more than 100,000 visitors is certainly a very special stop. And Ronny will also be on the road with a special tractor: The fully electric HIGH CAB Semi 6x2T 900 E from Designwerk. The Swiss specialist for electric commercial vehicles and Continental are working together in a development partnership. For Ronny, it will be the premiere on an e-truck. “I’m curious to see how the driving behaviour differs from the diesel, and how everything goes with charging,” he says. However, in March the tractor already managed the good 700 kilometres from Winterthur in Switzerland to Hanover with a single battery charge. So, the 400 kilometres from Hanover to the Nürburgring should be an ease…
Continental parks the show truck in the trade fair park
The E-Truck from Designwerk with the roadshow trailer will be part of the exhibition park at the Nürburgring. Since 1986, the Truck Grand Prix has always offered a colourful programme in addition to the spectacular events on the race tracks – tractor units will show their horsepower in various racing series. On Friday and Saturday evening, country bands and party singers like Markus Becker or Tobee will perform on the big open-air stage. The pit lanes of the racing teams will be open, visitors can experience repairs live and talk to the drivers – quite uncomplicated and direct.
Truck Grand-Prix as a stage for Continental’s tire solutions
In the exhibition park, 60 exhibitors will show products and innovations, including truck manufacturers such as Iveco, MAN or Scania, the toll service provider Toll Collect or suppliers such as Hella. “For us, too, the ADAC Truck Grand-Prix has been a fixed date in the calendar for years and this summer it is, of course, a stop on our roadshow,” says Timo Röbbel, who is responsible for marketing in the tire replacement business in Germany at Continental. He goes into raptures about the family atmosphere at the Nürburgring, the mix of motorsport, entertainment and specialist information, and the diversity of the audience. “With our interactive exhibition, we will once again show that tires today are high tech and an important part of holistic fleet management,” explains Röbbel.
Thus, in addition to the recreational fun at the race track, several central messages emanate from the ADAC Truck Grand-Prix:
- Logistics is important for all of us.
- Professional drivers deserve to be appreciated because they keep our economy running.
- The commercial vehicle industry and the transport trade are making an ever greater contribution to sustainable mobility – for example, through climate-friendly drives or energy-efficient fleet management.
